International Nurses Day was celebrated at Assam Oil College of Nursing and Assam Oil School of Nursing, Digboi on 12th May 2022. The program was started at 10.30 a.m. in Nursing School auditorium. The programe was a grand success one with the presence of Sri K.K. Sharma, CGM & RH, IOCL(AOD), Sri S.K. Das , CGM (T), IOCL (AOD), Sri Dhanjit Baishya, CGM (T S & HS E), Sri K. Basumatary ,GM (HR), Sri A. K. Sutar, DGM, (F), Dr. Bhanu Hazarika , DGM i/c (HS & E – Med), Dr. Rita Bagchi, DGM (HSE- Med), Mrs. Mina Sonowal (Asst. Matron, IOCL Hospital, Digboi), the doctors & Nurses of IOCL(AOD) Hospital, faculties , students & nonteaching staff of AOCN & AOSN. The events was started with a invocation dance by GNM 1st year students following by felicitation and lamp lighting and cake cutting. The cherished words written by the first woman director on IOC board Ms Sukla Mistry to the Nurses “The importance of nursing lies to the fact that – we are born in the hands of nurses and we are also die in the hands nurses” was highlighted in the welcome address given by principal, AOSN & AOCN Dr(Mrs) Aparajita Phukan Baruah. The programme was charmed with the worth speech on flagship CSR project AOSN & AOCN and about International Nurses’ day 2022 by Sri K.K. Sharma, CGM & RH, IOCL (AOD). A role play was performed by B.Sc.Nursing 1st year students on the theme of National Nurses month: “Nurses Make a Difference” and theme of International Nurses’ day 2022; NURSES: A Voice to Lead – Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure global health, focusing on the need to protect, support and invest in the nursing profession to strengthen health systems around the world. The saying by ICN president Dr Pamela Cipriano is also highlighted in the welcome address. A Panel discussion was done by students of GNM 3rd year and B.Sc. Nursing 4th year on the theme of International day of Midwives: “100 years of Progress.” followed by refreshment. The programme was successfully ended with a Jeng Bihu by GNM 3rd year student of AOSN and with the vote of thanks by the vice-Principal, AOSN & AOCN Mrs Nitumoni Mahilary.
